For years the line was "vote like your life depends on it," and people said it about their own coverage, their own paycheck, their own kid's school. Then ten states redrew their congressional maps ahead of the 2026 midterms, and courts cleared new lines in Texas, California and Alabama. When the districts themselves are the argument, the stakes stop being personal. Somebody had to correct the slogan.

The back is five lines of heavy black slab caps, set like a union handbill run off in a hurry, ink spreading a little at the edges. LIFE is crossed out with one thick red marker stroke, and COUNTRY is written above it in a red hand, smaller than the type, the way a copy editor fixes a proof after the plate is already cut. A red caret sits underneath to show where the new word drops in, and a small proofreader's mark waits out in the margin. The correction is not shouted. It is just obviously right.
